Excellent Fear Busting Book! September 1, 2010 N. Milan This book is a wonderful resource, especially in our current economic conditions. The title says it all! Fear will always be present in our lives and the only thing to combat it is to just feel the fear and do it anways! It really is that simple!
Good advise July 18, 2010 B. Bates (Santa Fe, NM USA) Read the title and skip reading the book. The title says it all. OK, go ahead and read the book to gleen more information, but don't be surprised if after you read the book, you wonder why you bought it. Can be a little preachy, but it was of benefit to several members of my family.
Fair July 1, 2010 db This book has some great ideas and techniques. It is standard self-help fare which basically means that it is armchair psychology. If you are so downtrodden to really need this book to change your life then likely self-help is not the thing for you. Professional-help is more apropos. If you are a highly functioning adult with quirks in how you approach the world you will still find a few nuggets of interest here, but likely a lot of it will seem a bit silly.
This is not to say the effort was bad. The book in and of itself is quite adept at explaining the nature of fear, the value of positive thought, as well as pointing out things that you may not be wholly aware of in how you interact with the world. Some things may appear obvious, but it is always good to be reminded of the behaviors that are detrimental.
Why I am not able to give rave reviews about this book is that the techniques are very plain and somewhat cumbersome. People in the self-help genre are notorious for trying to give the people what they want. Simple answers to complex problems. I think the techniques in this tome are simple yet much too cumbersome to maintain for a long period of time. I think people would be better served by having one technique to try for a while and alternatives to try if that one fails. This book has a slew of techniques for each situation and the reader is led to believe that all of them should be used at all times.
Feel the Fear and do it anyway June 4, 2010 Susan M. Snyder (San Marcos, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book. It's a step by step journey to stop being blocked by fear and live the life you were meant to live. One of the most powerful points in the book for me was that everyone feels fear. When you walk into a situation that makes you uncomfortable don't assume that everyone else isn't afraid along with you. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway is a call to change yourself and start living.
I finally did it... May 24, 2010 Robert L. Rose (Blooming Glen, PA, 18911-0064, Bucks County,United States)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is one of those books I've often thumbed through in book stores and libraries over the past couple of decades, and now, after reading a 1987 edition brought home by my wife, I find myself telling others about it when that seems appropriate. I also recently gave it to a family member facing the anxiety of medical testing and it helped us both feel our fears and do the tests anyway. The title itself became a calming mantra, but this book is filled with really good and clear guidance.
Get a copy, read it, and keep it close by.
