Legal Bully July 3, 2009 madrec (san diego, CA) The phrase "Feel the fear and do it anyway" was not invented by this woman. But she registered it as her trademark and is now trying to bully the blogger Zenhabits who used it in his blog. She had her lawyer write to him instructing him to put a registered trademark symbol next to where he used the phrase and to link to this book of hers on the blog, threatening legal action. The blog entry had NOTHING to do with her book. This was only because Zenhabits used the same well known phrase she used for the title of her book. DO NOT support this woman. She's ridiculous and petty and trifling.

I have crippling social anxiety that prevents me from telling people how I feel.... I can't do this...
A simple introduction to the concepts of Buddhism June 26, 2009 S. Barron (OH, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I initially picked this book out of a list of references in some material about shyness and dealing with it. I figured the book to be about facing fears and anxieties and dealing with them, particularly in terms of self confidence and self esteem. It does address those issues, but it also addresses many other aspects of life with varying degrees of relation to fear. I enjoyed the book and at its recommendation went on to some materials about meditation and from there materials about Buddhism. While I was reading the introductory Buddhism materials the number of things in common between the two were stunning. I don't recall this book ever addressing it specifically, but this could easily be a Buddhism for Dummies kind of book.
Way Too Glib June 13, 2009 DJY51 (Westchester County, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There is some valuable advice for timid people in this book, but it's mixed with hokum and ridiculous new age jargon. Anyone who could say that victims of horrendous violence should say "yes to their universe" while condemning the actions taking place, will lose me. If you think that everything happens for a reason, that you really can't make a mistake, because whatever you chose to do had potential "goodies" (Jeffers' word)attached to your decision, that if things don't work out, you then have an opportunity to make another good decision, then this book is for you. It wasn't for me. Then again, I'm not a fearful person. I would advise anyone who reads this, not to read it to the end. It was offensive to hear Jeffers describe Viktor Frankl's experience of being in a concentration camp, while maintaining his dignity, as saying "Yes to his universe".
Fear, the inner enemy May 31, 2009 M. Olmstead (NW Ohio) Fear is something that can paralyze you from taking action. The only way to overcome fear is to face it and do it. The book gave many examples of fear and ways to overcome them. There is good fear that protects us from danger etc. and the bad fear which holds us back from being all that we could be.
