Amazon.com Product Description
The first USB turntable that lets you convert your old vinyl collection directly to CD or MP3, the Ion Audio iTTUSB is a must for people who don't want to deal with clumsy adapters or mismatched software when transferring formats. Requiring no special drivers, the turntable comes with Audacity, a recording application that works with both PCs and Macs, as well a trial version of Bias Soundsoap 2 to clean and restore vinyl recordings. As an alternative, the turntable also works with any other software that supports USB audio input sound cards. Once connected, the turntable transfers both 33-1/3 rpm albums and 45 rpm singles to digital formats in mere minutes.

The iTTUSB also offers a few hardware extras, such as an adjustable anti-skating control for increased stereo balancing, an adjustable pitch control (+/- 8 percent), and support for high-speed vinyl recording. And thanks to the line-level outputs, you can connect to any home stereo with CD or auxiliary (AUX) inputs--no phono inputs required. The turntable comes with a cartridge and stylus, 45 adapter, and USB cable and is compatible with PCs running Windows 98, 2000, or XP and Macs running OS 9 or greater. All computers must also have at least one available USB 1.1 port.

The iTTUSB's master carton measures 20.27 by 6.85 by 17.16 inches (W x H x D) while the turntable itself weighs 7.7 pounds.

What's in the Box
Turntable, tonearm counterweight, platter with belt, slipmat, cartridge premounted on headshell, RCA cable, USB cable, software CD-ROM, 45 adapter, quick-start guide, user's manual.

5 out of 5 stars Ion USB Turntable   August 27, 2008
Gerard M. Wolf
I recently purchased the Ion TTUSB turntable so I could transfer my vinyl to digital. I was very pleased with the unit, the design is user friendly, with two large stop/start buttons located at the corners so one doesn't disturb the stylus when finding and recording tracks.

The software makes transfer a breeze, just sit back and listen to your oldies and allow the memories to flow back!
You can also use Audacity if you want to record and tweak the recording or record 78's by recording them at 33 or 45 and re doing them at 78. Very nice feature for those with 78 records out there.
All in all, I am very happy with the unit, the price was right and use is a piece of cake, just plug it in and go!

1 out of 5 stars Ion TTUSB Turntable w/USB Record   August 27, 2008

I could not get this to work with my computer. I kept getting error messages about reinstalling Quicktime and/or iTunes. None of it made sense. When googling the error I read that this tends to be a problem with this product.
Now the company I got this from, Electronics expo, is giving me a hard time about the return, and refund.

4 out of 5 stars Patience makes it work   August 18, 2008
The Col. (Longwood Fl.)
First the cons; It's not automatic so it requires monitoring during recording. The RCA cords are permanently attached and somewhat in the way. If you are using a MAC you need a lot of patience. It took me three days and tech support to get it working. Audacity can be just that. MAC's need LameLib in order for Audacity to save as MP3. After three days I finally got LameLib downloaded and working with Audacity. However, than all I could get on the recording was heavy static after 5 minutes. I found that The MAC needed to be set at 48000 in order to stop this from happening. After a week of a lot of frustration I finally got everything working. Saying it converts to MP3 on a MAC is somewhat misleading.

Now for the PRO's; The software and player do a good job. I have gone through a number of LP's with good success. Practice makes it better once you get it working. I am not disappointed in it.

1 out of 5 stars Mac users: Not for the faint-of-heart   August 15, 2008

The Ion USB Turntable was a gift that held much promise to convert vinyl recordings to MP3 files to add to my iPod. The unit looks and sounds great as the records play through the Apple G-5's sound card. Unfortunately the recordings are in wav format and you have to download additional software (LAME MP3 Encoder) to convert the wav file to mp3. The link they provided is a dead end, and the forums are full of comments by other users who have exactly the same problem. There may be a solution somewhere for Mac users (a number of work-arounds are suggested in the forums), but after several hours I have been unable to find anything that works. Note that the authors of several positive reviews used different software to make this product work.
