I too am disappointed with this magazine.
Currently subscribed for two years now, and for many more years when I was younger, and found it very enjoyable reading back then, but today, I find a Liberal, Left-Wing Agenda of the completely defraduded Global Warming & Climate Change issue. It is constantly presented, and the many articles are geared towards convicing you of this populist agenda.
That is not what I want from this type of magazine and I will not renew my subscription.
I may try another, or just forego any more of these rags, which is disappointing to me.
Many others must feel the same, as they are giving the magazine away at $5.00 for 12 issues! That tells me that their core readers are falling off a cliff, and they are scrambling to find new subscribers.

I grew up with Pop Sci, used to be a good magazine. Now, preachy. Wake up, Pops,
not everyone thinks the science of global warming, ethanol for cars, etc is actually
scientific and rational. But like the NYT, dissent is heresy, and the open
questions about these issues are not only brushed aside, but scorned by the editors
and writers.
If I want to read about conserving carbon I'll listen to Al Gore /sarcasm off.
Don't bother. Like Scientific American, the magazine has gone to the lunatic left.

This magazine has been a huge dissapointment. The articles are full of "fluff" in the sense that it gives you a basic scientific idea but does not give in-depth coverage. It seems most of these articles are 1 page or less -- just enough space to give you a gist of what it is.
Also, on many topics I have noticed that I had already read about it in popular mechanics two months before...written better and with more detail. Many stories seem to be about what the Earth will be like in 50 years, ie how green technology, robots and computers will change the way we live. Well, I am not too concerned about speculating how things MAY be 50 years from now, I want to read about current projects or ones that have a short 5-10 year goal.
Another reviewer mentioned that the editor is biased; I have to agree. I don't care what your political views are or if you're an apple or microsoft guy -- just don't push your agenda on me!
Therefore, I will continue to read popular mechanics and not renew pop sci.

I think the magazine title is mileading. There's not much science in this magazine. I got two issues so far and there isn't a single article that I found worth reading. The culture is quite evident in the advertisments that are featured which if I my add are quite age inappropriate. They feature advertisments for male organ enlargements, stimulants, aphrodisiacs and include lots of testimonials. I am very uncomfortable letting this sit around as I have an 8 year old. I have to throw this mag away the same day I get it. Stay away if you are really interested in science.

I have been a subscriber to Popular Science for nearly ten years. I never detected a political bias, that is until the current editor took over a few years ago. His political bias was immediately obvious. I don't need politics in my science, but liberal politics pervades every corner of the magazine under the current editor. Everything from the topics covered, to the perspective of the articles, is steeped in liberal bias. I liked the magazine a lot better without the propaganda, when the editor's politics were imperceptible. I will not be renewing my subscription.
