Daughter enjoys it, but some things aren't perfect December 24, 2008 pryan67 I purchased this for my 9 year old daughter who is very interested in nature, exploring, and adventure. While she really enjoys using it, one issue we've found is that the sensitivity setting isn't linear, that is, it's difficult to tune it in such a way that it either picks up every bottle cap and pop top, or it won't find an iron spike sitting on the ground. As a first metal detector for a child though, it's entertaining, and allows for fun games. I'd toss some quarters into the yard or out in the woods and let her go try to find them, or bury a small metal box filled with coins or small toys and let her go on a treasure hunt. Overall, I'd recommend it for children 5-12.
Great for the price. December 21, 2008 C. Cruz (Margate, FL USA) I bought this to find my property pins (rebars) so that I can put up a fence. It enabled me to pin-point their locations with the help of a survey. Mission accomplished. Just make sure to read the instructions and adjust it to the type of metal that you are looking for. Not bad for $50!
Toy metal detector December 12, 2008 Prof. Who (Milan, TN USA) I thought that this locator would at least locate large metal objects, but I was wrong. This is more like a kids toy than an actual metal detector. Don't waste your money if you actually want to use it for something relevant.
this is only a toy December 10, 2008 J. Weaver (Louisiana) I foolishly bought this detector. It would not detect a penny on top of carpet. It beeps if you sweep it side to side. It was missing an ajdustment nut on the foot. cheaply made and don't work. shipped it back, and still waiting on my money to be reimbursed. the only reason I gave it one star is because you must give at least one to post.
Metal Detector December 1, 2008 Sherry K. Felkel (Louisiana) This item was received with days of ordering. My grandson will be so excited at Christmas. My father (who is 79) helped open it, and he was like a kid again playing with it. Thank you.
